Read The Agathas today and putting it side by side with The Good Girls and perhaps A Good Girl's Guide trilogy made me think how nothing is spiritually original anymore. And it would have been nicer if the former and the latter are queer instead.

I say this to almost every mystery book these days but if you're going to recycle a concept, do make it queer to add excitement.

Also, Stephen King's brand of horror works in Western spaces because it is quintessentially and frustratingly American. Most of the plot wouldn't have occured here in Southeast Asia.

Stephen King's works are best digested in its original form. Binge-watched the films this weekend and it just did not have that same effect.
