a cobbled beach on the bank of a deep Pacific Northwest River in August. Alder lines the river, reflecting green on the water. A pair of hiking boots, socks, and pants are scattered on the rocks. The botanist is out there like a freak, identifying plants in their underroos.

a black cat with yellow eyes makes a sassy face at the person whose lap he is sitting in. He is very shiny and handsome and last night he was definitely pretending he had never heard of this lap thing before. You-you sit in it???? And that’s where the snuggles are??? I dunno sounds real fake.

A misty winter Western Oregon forest. Two big leaf maples lean across the foreground, with conifers and other deciduous trees in the fog behind them. The deciduous trees are all empty of leaves but every branch and trunk is thick with bright green moss and ferns feather the upper side of the foreground trees. Even with the trees dormant everything is vivid and green and full of life.

kind of amazing how beautiful the bog standard duck is
three mallards, two male, one female, swim on a lake. The sun catches on the iridescent green feathers on the heads of the males. You can see their orange feet underwater. leafless trees make wriggling reflections on the water.

what up weird mushroom walks?

(iNaturalist suggests Collybiopsis spp. but that is unconfirmed by human and I don’t know my fungi).
a white mushroom grows on a mossy tree. It resembles a tiny little parachute (it’s common name), and sunlight glows through it.

The morning sit in
