Against a papery green backdrop, with the green-and-gold, sword-and-floral book cover for Her Pretty Knight, the #lesficfri quote for "Remember" is: Galeon should leave. She should turn away. Instead, she watched. And she listened. And she wanted. Galeon’s breathing quickened, matching Della’s. She was somehow painfully aware of her own body while feeling separated from it. She was standing closer than she had been. She didn’t remember moving.

A good kind of "nervous" when dancing with a lady knight ❤️🏳️‍🌈⚔️
From HER LOVELY CHAMPION, the second standalone story in my Sapphic Lady Knights series, now in audio, paperback, and ebook!
#lesficfri
Shows the blue and gold book cover for Her Lovely Champion, Sapphic Lady Knights Book Two by Mariah Rae Birch, on a watercolor and paper texture background. #lesficfri "nervous" Quote: Kaylen’s hand skimmed down to Eliza’s hip, leaving a trail of fire. The music faded and Eliza’s heartbeat replaced the rhythm. Eliza forgot to move her feet and they stumbled as Kaylen stepped into her. “Sorry,” they both muttered together. Eliza laughed again, suddenly nervous, her body extremely aware of Kaylen’s as their chests brushed.

#lesficfri
Image shows a soft blue background featuring the blue and gold book cover for Her Lovely Champion by Mariah Rae Birch #lesficfri "wish" Quote: Wordlessly, Sir Kaylen moved to help, her fingers also unsteady but more effective. Eliza stilled as the backs of the knight’s knuckles grazed the skin of her neckline and then dipped a trail down beneath the lacing, efficiently loosening the gown to Eliza’s navel. Eliza’s belly swooped. She wished her skin weren’t so numb so she could feel the sensation better.

#Sapphic #romantasy #wlw
Shows a green wash background with cover of "Her Pretty Knight" Sapphic Lady Knights Book One, by Mariah Rae Birch. #lesficfri "Laugh" Quote: Watching Della with the other nobles that evening filled Galeon with something dark and ugly. It simmered when Della laughed with the stunning Lady Clayton. The lady placed a delicate hand on Della’s bare shoulder, leaning in and murmuring in Della’s ear. Della smiled and didn’t pull away. Galeon felt every bit the poor, dirty blacksmith she’d once been as the faded heat of the day clung to her skin in salty dampness beneath her shirt.

At the last moment, Galeon turned her head, so Della’s lips brushed Galeon’s cheek in the shadow of a thwarted kiss. Still, the feeling of her skin and the scent of her, clean and metallic, made Della hum. “We shouldn’t,” Galeon said, her voice rough.

Lola grabbed the handkerchief of crumbling pastries and settled near the pillows, sitting with her legs crossed and spreading the delicacies between them. “You’ll get crumbs in the bed,” Hildith warned, slightly askance, rolling to her good side so she could prop up on her elbow. Lola shrugged, a playful tilt to her lips. “I think we’ll survive a few crumbs.”

Hildith leaned against a wall and tried to look casual as her leg shot pain from her foot to her skull. Despite her current unpleasant mood, the festival could not be described as anything other than charming. Colorful streamers fluttered above and bushels of flowers decorated the center square as a few musicians eked out a passable tune.

#Sapphic #ladyknight
#lesficfri "stare". Cover of Her Lovely Champion by Mariah Rae Birch. Quote: Being free was incredible, and frightening, but Sir Kaylen stood sturdily beside her. The sun broke through the temperamental clouds and highlighted the woman’s fiery hair, catching the frizz and turning into a glowing aura. Eliza had to force herself to look away, or she might have stood there and stared for the rest of the afternoon.

At your service.” She bowed again. Sir Kaylen. What a wonderful name. The woman’s accent was a strange mix of rough and lilting, and the most beautiful sound Eliza had heard in years. Eliza vibrated with excitement.

#lesficfri "Help" excerpt: “Is this my surprise?” Della asked as Galeon darted forward and adjusted a bouquet. “Is it all right?” Sir Galeon watched her too closely. “It’s beautiful. Did you do all this?” Della was charmed by the display, despite herself. “I helped.” Della raised her eyebrows. “And by that, do you mean you arranged the whole thing?” “I helped. But it was the prince’s idea.”
