We’re the UK’s leading end of life charity. Hospice care and support, research and campaigns. Whatever the illness, we’re with you to the end 💛
People think hospice care only happens in hospices. It doesn't. Our nurses work in A&E to help people get the end of life care they need. They’re in GP practices identifying people who need care and helping them get it. They visit people’s homes to manage pain and to support families. 💛

Terminally ill people deserve financial security. 💛

People with a terminal illness, no matter their age, should be able to access a State Pension level of income, so everyone has the money they need to live well in their final months. #PensionAwarenessWeek

Nobody who is dying should be worrying about a council tax bill. 💔 We’re calling on councils in England to exempt people with less than 12 months to live.

🚨 New data show significant gaps in end of life care in hospitals across England. Too many people are missing out on conversations about what matters most to them, and inequalities in care remain. The government must act.

🚨 Thousands of terminally ill people are missing out on fast-tracked access to benefits payments they’re entitled to. This isn’t right. Everyone diagnosed with a terminal illness should be told what financial support is available – and how to access it quickly.

❗One assessment for PIP costs around £282.

Yet people living with a terminal illness are at risk of being re-assessed every three years. That’s public money being used on an outcome that rarely changes AND it adds stress and admin for people who are seriously ill.

It doesn’t make sense.

The UK government has already acknowledged the crisis in end of life care. It’s even set out plans to improve it. But plans alone won't fix the problem. Without dedicated investment, little will change.

So Andy Burnham, are you with us? 💛

Andy Burnham knows end of life care in the UK is broken. He now has the chance to fix it.

🚨 MPs head off for their summer break today. While Parliament is away, 22,000 people in England will die without the care they need. Terminally ill people deserve better. We should all get to spend our final days comfortable, free of avoidable pain and cared for.

Financial anxiety is real. Now imagine living with an illness that’s only going to get worse and you rely on financial support to live. Yet you’re still being asked to prove how ill you are, again and again.

This is why we need a more compassionate social security system.
July 15, 2026 at 1:52 PM
People living with an illness that won’t get better deserve financial security until the very end.

Repost if you agree. 💛

Imagine finding out your cancer is terminal by accident. This is happening in the NHS right now. Poor communication is leaving patients frightened, confused and unsupported at the end of life. 💔

This has to change.
July 7, 2026 at 8:22 AM
Everyone, everywhere deserves good end of life care. It should be available in people’s homes, in hospitals, GP surgeries and care homes. Care should be available at night, on weekends, and before families reach breaking point.

Repost if you agree. 💛

We can’t go on like this. 💔

The next Prime Minister must be the one to fix end of life care for good.

Everyone deserves to spend their final days comfortable and cared for, where they want to be and with the people who matter most to them.

Hi James Murray, congratulations on your new job 👋

As the new Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, we need you to urgently prioritise fixing end of life care.

You have the power to make sure everyone has care and comfort in their final days of life - which is what we all deserve. 💛

OVER 3,000 people in Wales have ONE message for the new Welsh Government…

⏰ It’s time to fix end of life care.

Too many people aren’t getting compassionate, dignified care and support in their final days of life. This is unacceptable. It has to change now – nawr.

REACT, a service we provide with Bradford Teaching Hospitals, won an NHS Excellence Award! 🎉

Together we’re changing what happens when terminally ill people come to A&E - identifying those in their last year of life and getting rapid, specialist care in place at home. We couldn’t be more proud 💛

We support @mariecurieuk.bsky.social’s call on the #government to ensure people living with #terminal conditions like PSP & CBD can access #financial support easier. Our recent #survey found 65% of people with PSP & CBD experience new costs they didn’t have before.
People living with life-limiting illnesses that will only get worse shouldn’t have to be put through repeated benefits reassessments.

They add stress and paperwork at a time when people are already dealing with so much.

It has to stop. 🛑

This is needed.

But for people who are dying & need urgent pain relief, it won’t be enough.

We need more pharmacies with the right medicines, tools and training to support people in the last 12 months of life - so people get the care they deserve in their community 💛

❌ Nobody should die alone or in pain.
✅ Everyone deserves compassion, comfort and dignity at the end of their life.
Whoever forms the next governments in Scotland and Wales has an urgent responsibility to improve end of life care, so everyone gets the support they need.

Ahead of the elections in Scotland and Wales tomorrow, we have one message for politicians:

🚨 Will you fix palliative and end of life care?

Terminally ill people are spending their final weeks alone, in pain and in busy, unfamiliar hospital wards, when most people would prefer to be at home.

The assisted dying debate has brought a lot of attention to what matters at the end of life.

We’re not for or against assisted dying. We're focused on everyone getting the care and support they need at the end of their life. And right now, too many people are dying in pain and distress... (1/2)

The Senedd election is less than a month away. But end of life care is already at breaking point.
We're calling on the next Welsh Government to...

👉 Sustainably fund palliative and end of life care
👉 Ensure 24/7 access to end of life care
👉 Develop a strong palliative and end of life care workforce
