I'm getting the impression that "Someone should x" is another way of saying " I don't know the answer to that question, and I may not understand the question" </cynical>

Wordfame: Those who step up to compensate for the fact that we are a volunteer organization. Those who spot the gaps and step in to close the gaps. We are not perfect. Praise those who let us appear that way (or at least adequate)

Coffee thoughts on the SCA.
1. We are 300 hobbies in a trenchcoat. Many of which do not interact. This is neither good nor bad. This does not need to be solved.
2. We all _want_ to do more hobbies than we have resources (time).

Absolutely fabulous ride yesterday on Bonnie - was the final day of my RBAC challenge and I was really looking forward to filming the end of her progress. Beautiful ride. Never turned on the camera.

Another two horse day. I love riding two horses, but it is exhausting and occupies the better part of four hours. Some progress was made, but we're solidly in the "grinding" portion of rehab. I'm trying to think of things to make it interesting for both of us.

Rode both horses yesterday. Ivy & I improved communications and I'm now where I wanted to be two weeks ago. I'll go out again tonight. Bonnie's appetite for trot is unabated. Both she and I are out of shape and using a bareback pad, so sitting the trot. My back is in considerable pain today.

15 Sayings of Medieval Steppe Nomads leads to interesting coffee thoughts. I'm not sure that I agree with a single one of these, possibly because they are infused with tribal wisdom, which isn't relevant to my cosmopolitan life. #mysca

Lesson on Bonnie today for the first time in months. She is now allowed to walk for 30m and is permitted to trot briefly. Apparently Bonnie heard the vet say that she is allowed to trot. No modifiers; she interprets this to mean she must trot and not stop! I love this mare.

This is emotionally and physically difficult. Muscles must change learned patterns and the mind/emotions must accept that something that _appears_ to work, in fact is not really fit for purpose. Very irritating for student and teacher. (and for horse, who feels the tension from both.)

But at some point we hit a wall - we cannot progress further without going back and fixing those fundamentals. I'm doing this now with riding - revisiting things that I do successfully, but where the fundamentals are broken and need to be fixed./3

Resonates with me - I begin to suspect that with all physical skills (possibly all skills) that we succeed first by accident. We can continue to succeed with bad fundamentals./2

First time up on Bonnie in months - I rode her 5 minutes of rehab this morning, then switched to surcingle for a few minutes of long lining. What a delightful way to start the day!

It appears that I have a third horse! or at least half of one. Agreed last night to share a lease on a very clever rocky mountain horse. Looking forward to the adventure. #equestrian

I have incurred the mare's ire. I have evening dose of the foul tasting medicine. I am cast out from her herd and forbidden the water trough and the alfalfa pile. Until she realizes that I am the one who fills the water trough and the alfalfa pile. Then I will be forgiven.

Skimming the new equestrian manual; I'm impressed with the clarity. It is not easy to write policy with a clear, coherent voice. This is well done.

One of the interesting things about learning a physical skill is that it is difficult to observe one's self. Had you asked last week I would have bet money that my heels were under my hips. I would have lost. #mysca #equestrian

After far too long, I have the first take of my first shot for my video project. And while it does not suck, it is also only marginally useful. We'll try again tomorrow.
