Another fun find from Groove Merchant: a 1953 Benny Carter 10" LP w/ #DavidStoneMartin cover art I've never seen before. Nasty old tape on split seams (right) came off easily & cleaned up OK. Securing from inside w/ tape. Cont'd #musicsky #jazzsky #music #jazz

Found two 10” David Stone Martin covers for my collection at Groove Merchant yesterday. Vol. 2 of Jazz At The Philharmonic features a wonderful image of Lester Young. I have a 1947-era 12” 78 RPM version but this is the first 10” I’ve stumbled upon. Great lineup too! #msicsky #jazzsky #music #jazz

Notably, some groovy 10-inchers such as this 1953 4-song LP by guitarist Jimmy Raney with an incognito Stan Getz on sax (credited as "Sven Coolson" (like that in quotes, btw, due to contractual issues. Neat silver blue fireworks label too.

This also gives me a chance to enjoy this nifty promo poster I found (I think at an estate sale many years ago) which is designed to wrap around the cover when folded. Clearly, this was an instore promo edition. The disc is also the earliest pressing I've ever come across, 1A/1A on both sides.

I got 2 of these UK 2LP 180-g (mono/stereo) reissues of The Kinks' Village Green Preservation Society in 2011 when released. I'm purging 1 at KUSF's Rock 'n Swap this Sunday. Sounds great even on splatter vinyl, better than current BMG editions. Perfect foggy Friday morning music. #musicsky #music

For me, this is the "influencer" part of social media I do like, when I can help steer people in the right direction. In this case, a creator who dissects vintage animation was exploring why Peter Lorre appeared not only in Coyote vs. Acme movie but many golden-era WB cartoons. Heartfelt, the creator clearly didn't understand Mr. Lorre's iconic acting career so I pointed them to Fritz Lang's 1931 classic "M," arguable birthplace of his bug-eyed madman image. In about 24 hours since, I've received nice comments from the original poster but also 200 likes from thread follower. That is 200 more educated folks who might get interested in vintage films and their connective histories. I feel good about this.
