After dreading the process for weeks I finally bit the bullet and set up my new computer. I needed to transfer stuff from my old one and that made me nervous. At first, it didn't work. And then I discovered that everything was already there. I am relieved.

First, very rough, draft is done. 72,874 words. After the next couple of rewrites, I think it will come to 85 to 90K, which for me is a very comfortable length for a novel. This is, however, the roughest draft I have done is decades. And yet, I think I'm pleased with it. Now about a week of sleep...

71K. Wrote almost 2800 words this morning. My neck is stiff and my butt is flat, but I'm now in striking distance of the conclusion.

We saw The Odyssey today. Superb. To the people complaining, the film is doing other things than what you expected. That doesn't make it bad. It just makes you disappointed. I found ig riveting, complex, and ultimately satisfying.
