Ink and paint dragged across the photograph until the face barely survives. I called it Golden Girl III. The brush doesn't ask permission.

A window, a ceiling fan, a woman who doesn't need the view. Bali does that to people.

I cracked the door and told her not to look at me. She looked past me instead, arms crossed over what she wasn't giving away.

Smoke, bare skin, a sign on the wall warning against fire. What exactly was she waiting for?

Black lace, white sheets, a garter clip undone one hook at a time. The frame stops before the story does.

Heels on marble, one hand on the railing. She looked like she owned the building. I own the negatives.

I stuck a piece of tape on her back that said TAKE OFF. She never asked why. Some directions don't need explaining.

Wire fence, cold light, a face that gives nothing away. Some frames belong behind a paywall, not a feed.
