Dream sequences are often just excuses to show cool imagery that is otherwise meaningless…but this imagery is really cool, and it hits of a darker connection as Longshot transforms into Mojo! He leaves the X-Men right after this, and won’t be back for a few years. #marvel #xmen

Longshot has an extended dream sequence which includes this moment with Ricochet Rita and Spiral. Does Longshot have a clue that Spiral is just Rita at a different point in her timeline?? Is this the first hint to the reader?! I’m curious when it happens. #marvel #xmen

It’s another milestone issue: This is Jim Lee’s first issue as penciler for Uncanny X-Men! His run on this and other X-Men series isn’t extraordinarily long—he leaves Marvel in 1992—but he pretty much defined the look of these characters in the ’90s! #marvel #xmen

The Omega Bomb detonates, destroying the base just as Nick Fury and his companions escape! And I guess that’s the end of the Gnobians, who we will hopefully never see again in future stories. Hopefully this rest of this series is more grounded! #marvel #nickfury

Lump telepathically connects with the Gnobian Mother, and he unlocks a small pocket of humanity (Gnobianity??) within her. But she knows it’s only temporary, so she sets the Omega Bomb to destroy herself and the entire base! #marvel #nickfury

The flawed premise of these stories is that the aliens are telepathically poisoned by Strucker’s hateful mindset, particularly his desire to destroy Nick Fury. They sit and have open conversations about Strucker’s evil influence, yet they keep following it. #marvel #nickfury

One of the interesting ideas in this story (maybe the only interesting idea) is that Strucker stole the secrets of alien technology back in 1944, and that technology was used for A.I.M., Hydra, and eventually migrated over to S.H.I.E.L.D. It would explain a lot. #marvel #nickfury

If you need a summary of this six-issue storyline, a helpful summary is provided on the title page: Strucker found aliens and turned them into Nazis. If they weren’t so determined to draw out the mystery, this could have been finished in two, maybe three issues. #marvel #nickfury
