This seems so obvious to me that it always baffles me when people push back against it. Bach's Goldberg Variations and "Sugar Sugar" by the Archies are both absolutely perfect at what they're doing. But what they're doing isn't the same thing.
What I mean is there are some books that are trying to give you a transcendent moving experience, and make you feel like you lived a different life, and some books are giving you fantastic weekend entertainment. And that's fine!

Basked in the hazy, wizened, ruminative vibes of Time Out Of Mind the other day while working because it's one of my favorites of his. Little did I know it was released 29 years ago on that day.

Fragments, unlike many other box sets, really works on its own

Music Album Review: Bob Dylan's "Fragments" - Appreciating the Enigmatically Ruminative Vibe of "Time Out of Mind" - The Arts Fuse
I’ve always admired Bob Dylan’s resolute reluctance to repeat himself, artistically or otherwise. The Bootleg Series Vol. 17: Fragments reminds us how obsessive that aesthetic restlessness really is.

A fun thing about President Business is that he fucking sucks at business worse than anyone else ever has

This is an explicit promise to blow up the national debt in a way that would make Hugo Chávez look like a tight-fisted number-crunching white-shirt fiscal conservative *for an election stunt*
Trump: "Because of tariffs, we are taking in hundreds of billions of dollars of profits. It's one of the reasons I can offer, if Republicans win the House and Senate, $5,000 to every adult. We can do it and the Democrats can't, because the Democrats don't have any income."

what a movie that is
Maggie Cheung & Tony Leung in Wong Kar-Wai's In the Mood for Love, 2000

"Cheung embodies the film's lonely core: a woman trapped in loveliness and convention, her tightly repressed suffering a mocking rebuke to the putative powers of beauty."

you can think this is true and you can still consider optics enough not to go on “the Axios show” and make sure AES gets to spend the whole next week being asked about it at every event

Let's begin with "A Love Supreme, Pt. 1", released in 1965. McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums.
