👮‍♂️ AN INCREASE IN CRIME WILL FOLLOW

Almost all prisoners will be released eventually, but we should be under no illusion that this policy increases the risk to the public.

✅️ Met residents in Grove whilst out campaigning
✅️ Joined over 6,000 people at the Thames Valley Police Open Day and spoke about some of threats of online crime
✅️ Marked 10 years of Revd Alec Gill's service in the Vale Benefice at St John's church in Grove

Tackling low level crime through strong neighbourhood policing is vitally important, but it is not just about policing alone. It needs the courts and prisons service as well as local councils to be active parts of the solution - and a strong civic society that is clear on acceptable behaviour.

This is exactly why the so-called “win” earlier this month with Burnham’s U-turn on PC Andrew Harper’s killers should not be the end of the debate on the Sentencing Act.

There remain serious concerns about public safety both because of early release and changes to sentencing in our courts.
