You know, Ed Sheeran could do something really great & apologize & accept responsibility for choosing the coward's path & make amends. Wouldn't it be amazing if he did that? If he stood up for someone besides himself? I really think we need more people out there changing their minds.

I’m sorry but is anyone else annoyed by this moment in the NYT’s Annie Dillard obit: “That she was a photogenic young woman coming to grips with raw nature … was undeniably part of the Dillard mystique.”
She was one of our best writers! & he’s ascribing her “mystique” to her looks! Just fuck that!

This baby is now 60 pages. It has an organizing principle. So much shaping to do, pieces to add, to subtract. But this feels possible and maybe even okay.
I just opened a new document, dropped some poems in, titled it "Poetry Collection," and saved this Motherfucker. It has officially begun at 10:44 on a Tuesday night in September.

Very moving to come upon these flowers affixed to a park bench yesterday & to read the plaque & to realize this space is a remembrance for a man who lost his life on September 11. Lovely that someone still brings him flowers. 💔

All 3 of my kids are having some wild adventures & taking on exciting new challenges & seeking meaning in life right now. It’s wild to watch them become these independent young adults with endless dreams & curiosity & cool ideas. Kind of makes me feel like maybe we did our job.

I found this anniversary of Sept 11 particularly difficult. Maybe 25 years is hard to fathom when it feels fresh as yesterday? Or maybe it’s the current horrible state of the world? The fact that there are still unconscionable wars & violence happening, that world leaders have learned nothing?

Last night on Park Avenue, I caught a glimpse of the giant flag in lights at the top of the new JP Morgan building over this awning & felt a jolt of emotion. I put a longer post about this on IG, but will just say that today is a very moving & poignant day every year, but especially this year. ❤️
