TW: Suicide

If you tell people you have SI, many are likely to suggest you call 988 or text the suicide lifeline. These are good resources *if you need to be kept physically safe;* they are not as helpful if your ideations are passive. Allow me to share some things that have helped me. /1

One reason the PCC unions are winning the public relations war is that we don't have professional public relations people doing all of our comms. It's just teachers, staff, and students talking about how they are trying to go to school and afford groceries.

My institution, Portland Community College, is in week 3 of a strike after 11 months of bargaining. My colleague friend wrote this powerful essay depicting the financial precarity of our faculty, which is of course a national trend. charlottedr.substack.com/p/behind-the...

A Christmas gift to get my contributor’s copy of Switchyard, fittingly themed THE END. My story “The Long Desired Child” appears inside, with dazzling illustrations by Clay Rodery. This piece is one of a few in my current collection engaged w/ childless grief.

what I love about Kobayashi Issa's haikus is how they're full of play as much as levity, in fact the play and levity are inextricable from each other. as a result, even in a tiny form, nothing feels like it's only one note, and across many haikus, nothing is iterative.
