🏀🧵 Think it's already time to create a pinned thread to follow the several moves of this off-season and whatever visualization I produce about each, in chronological order.

1. We start, of course, with the LaMelo Ball trade to the Timberwolves:

🏀📊Keyonte George had to adapt to a new role when asked to be more of a playmaker, and his growth on that front - and on his scoring - has been remarkable.

In that sense, 15%-17% of the cap starting in 27-28 doesn't shock me. I get the excitement there.

However, this (...)

🏀📊 Alright, let's do a quick one on the Miami Heat.

The Giannis trade is the alpha and the omega of their offseason. And in the effort of building a full NBA squad around him, they made some smart choices, but the firepower available is still somewhat questionable.

I have strong opinions about this 😂

I have to be brave and say it...

I am much more a Robinson projection person than an Equal Earth projection.

Sorry, it just distorts Australia & Japan too much (very iconic shapes on a globe).

Though it is undeniable Mercantor sucked for the purpose it had as "the school map

So, I read it.

Hanging on to the technically correctness of not having evidence of specifically Steve Balmer directly funneling money to Kawhi through Aspiration is exactly the spin the Clippers have had on this because it requires you to close your eyes about everything else.

The report (...)

🏀 Can't exactly remember the last time we saw a rookie guard with the combination of slithery finishing and core strength to handle physicality at the level we've seen with Dylan Harper.

Add to that how his game translated to the highest level of the playoffs in his 1st year!

🏀📊 My model had his value a shade under the 25% max, and this deal is projected to only go up to ~22%, so that looks very solid.

Am I concerned his valuation might come down over the years if his offense doesn't become less exploitable? Yes.

Time to prove people wrong, Amen.

MJ would nev-wait... nevermind.

It still sucks, though.

Starting to look very notable these ESPN people are "Senior Writers" and "Insiders", and not "Journalists". Even if that would he their background.

Pablo and this whole mess made that difference painfully clear.

Reading the report on this Kawhi / Clippers situation, I have two preliminary thoughts:

1) The Clippers are the guiltiest people to have ever been guilty of anything, holy crap. Good luck with any future litigation against the rulling.

2) This bit is absolutely fantastic:

🤣 So what's the Clippers' plan?

Can't be about the NBA's right to do this based on the level of evidence since the CBA clearly allows it to be circunstancial and gives discretion to the league.

Will they go to an actual court to say it's all fabricated? Or maliciously interpreted?
The NBA's rulings are final -- there is no formal appeal or arbitration process available to the Clippers with the league. LA's only outlet to fight the punishment is in court.
Statement from the Clippers: We vehemently reject the NBA's findings, which are the result of a heavily biased investigation seeking to justify a predetermined narrative rather than facts and evidence. What the league told us privately differs from what it announced today publicly, and they have

🏀📊 Lillard's "place" as a shooter is interesting because his threat is much bigger than the actual shot-making.

But the threat is there because everyone recognizes an all-time level ability.

But the numbers don't translate that bit. What captures it is the offensive impact.
