One to replace the previous pinned post - there’s a whole load of weather on this page so feel free to stick around if you want to with a sprinkle of aurora whenever that peps up. I hope this picture of me and a goose from this morning is suitable for now!
High-level cloud at sunset this evening here in Reading. Met Office FAX seems to have a variety of upper level warm and occluded fronts (presumably this cloud is associated with one of them!) moving east before tomorrow’s cold front moves through late tomorrow morning.

There appears to be a good signal for high pressure to build in towards the end of this week - exact orientation to be properly determined, but it could be a rather nice week to be had if you like sunshine, no doubt turning warmer too.

An in addition to this, here's the top 20 hottest population-weighted days in the UK since 1930. 2026 added 8 (yes, 8) new entries to the Top 20 - from three separate hot spells in June (4 days), July (2 days) and August (2 days). 2026 days in this chart highlighted in the dark grey.

Herne Bay has exceeded 30 mm of rainfall today - really quite a wet September day, we only really see totals exceed 30 mm on exceptionally wet days and scarcely many of them fall in September!
