Remembering that time when some big name accounts were arguing that X is all good now and the algorithm has been de-Elon'd. Wait, that was yesterday. The same time this was happening.
“Musk then prevented any community notes from appearing on Sortor’s post for many hours, ensuring that no one could debunk the bogus claim before it reached tens of millions of people, and suspended accounts that dug into its veracity”

Anatomy of a fake scandal
WSJ obtained video of Ken Paxton partying with literal fugitives in Dubai, so Republicans panicked and invented a story about Talarico checking into a psych hospital. It backfired.

If we get models running on toasters, assuming we’re not doomed, can we get affordable gaming GPUs again?!?

AI models may be capable of self-replicating without access to a datacenter
Small AI models may be only months away from being able to self-replicate across cheap IoT devices like Android TV boxes, with no datacenter needed.

I really don't think marketing and advertising people actually use the websites. If they did, surely they'd see how awful the ecosystem is that they've created. Terrible load times, janky web pages, awful user experiences. Yes, you can block ads, but we shouldn't have to for better UX.

may be good for accelerating research, but it also creates a lot of downside risk that would not exist in a public finance model.* These companies are losing money like crazy and they will release anything they think will get them money or investors with little regard to the consequences.

This “app name 27” pattern is kind of annoying. Come on, Sonos, you all learned from that disastrous redesign and STILL do this??

I wish I was wealthy enough to start a GPU company to make GPUs just for consumers again. PC gamers are so screwed in this stupid AI arms race.

What if everything we think we know about teens, tech, and mental health is wrong?

You can't read Peter Gray's new book, Restoring Childhood, without getting that impression ... reason.com/2026/09/15/r...
'Restoring Childhood' says it’s not smartphones making teens miserable. It’s school.
Computers, video games, and the internet actually helped "restore childhood" in the 1990s, suggests psychologist Peter Gray in a new book.

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone.

Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.

Money that comes into the United States government is government revenue. It is part of the public fisc. There's not "taxpayer money" and then "extra bonus money outside the rules." It's all taxpayer money. And spending *any* of it requires Congressional authorization.

Elon Musk is bankrolling an ad campaign to get you to check your voter registration through an innocent-sounding website.

But his real goal is to collect and sell your personal data to advertising companies, Big Tech, and other Republican PACs.

The slick voter registration website, currently being promoted to millions of people, is a digital surveillance machine.
