At this point in the media frenzy, Tuchel’s substitutions have taken on an or almost mythical quality. There’s nothing like a witchhunt with faint xenophobic qualities to overexcite the pundits, armchair or otherwise.

Yeah, I've not quite found the right framing to write about this properly, yet, but I think a huge problem is media/politics becoming fully passive and reactive to what it sees as mass opinion rather than striving to argue with it.

The middle brother. Just me and Paul left now.

Playing Marvin Gaye at a decent volume, his absolute favourite. Got to see him one last time, told him I loved him.

I'm unmoored. Not looking for condolences. Just putting down a marker.

Tell someone you love them. x

One of the stories of British politics over last 15 years has been Conservatives and Labour valuing narrower and narrower ideological coherence over their historic, broad coalitions and then being astonished that their vote shares keep falling.

Important to remember that the British public is actively being misinformed on this issue.
New net migration figures at 930am.

Net migration fell half a million to 344,000 in 2024 from 848k in 2023

56% of people think it went up last year
17% think stayed the same
14% think it went down

2025 figure to be lower again
16% expect that
38% think it will be up
31% about the same

Maybe Keir should demand the heads of major US news networks any time they imply Britain is on the brink of civil war or that we live under sharia law. Or does it not work both ways?

Notable in today's YouGov that the centre/left bloc - Lab/Green/LD/SNP are on 54%. With Reform/Tories on 43%. That's the biggest differential in a long time.

I think useful to track blocs given instability between parties at the moment.

Not sure why Reform are up in arms about 16 and 17 year olds voting. They put this 18 year old in charge of a £2bn council, which is pretty irresponsible if they thought he couldn’t even be trusted to vote a few months ago.
