I also resent the disparaging attitude towards learning. Knowing how to solve a square root or long division isn't really the point. The point is the process of learning. If he holds these views towards math, I can't imagine what he thinks of the humanities. Learning to think critically?

Not knowing your phone number or address isn’t the flex he thinks it is. Reading that makes me think “adult baby”. He isn’t sitting at the kitchen table filling out insurance forms or picking up a prescription at CVS. He lives a life that alienates him from 99.9999% of the planet.
