Oof, a news helo crashed while covering a fatal SUV-vs-bus crash in the Valley.

Phoenix had this in 2007, when two news choppers collided over a park while covering a police pursuit.

I don't know what the question is, but Halvorsen is not the answer.

I can't express how awesome it's been to lose an entire three-day weekend to a cold.

Yes, the Lux drive had a very similar wind direction to tonight. We at @weatherapplied.com didn't have sensors installed at Dodger Stadium back then, but we estimated Lux's drive got pushed back 35 feet by the wind. It was over twice as windy on that night (about 24 mph) than it is tonight, though.

Indoor sports played outside fails more often then not.

The Lakers and Suns had a preseason game at the Indian Wells tennis complex – and October nights out there get COLD.
At this point it is so bad there is an army of volunteers including the players from each time on their hands and knees trying to dry the court and they are peeling the midcourt logo off the floor

Sorry, Pauline, but this take aged like milk in the sun.
Chances are that when Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam film FULL METAL JACKET is at midpoint a lot of moviegoers will be asking themselves what it’s going to be about, and when it’s over they still won’t know. (1987)

One of my favorite nom de plumes on baseball sites was Strangers with Candy Maldonado.
Happy 66th birthday to Candy Maldonado. Maldonado debuted with the Dodgers in 1981 and played 5 seasons with LA before being traded ahead of 1986 to SF, where his career really took off. He appeared in several postseasons and earned a WS ring with the 1992 Blue Jays.

I've spent most of my life in Arizona and California – so I guess the quiz decided to split the difference and put my dialect in Nevada.

Shohei is a hot fucking mess. He *has* to be hurt – and no one in the org can tell him to have a seat for 10 days.

Not to go all Saul Goodman, yet: "Tough... but fair."
Wow, the NBA did it. They actually punished them. Im shocked

Yeah, the clumping feet of KICK-ASS MARINES.
ALIEN, with its horrible mutating creature (you never knew what form it would take), made you dread the scenes to come; it tied your innards in a knot. ALIENS isn't that scary...This movie has clumping feet. (1986)

Shohei looks as frustrated as I've ever seen him.

Remembering very well my reaction to news of the McCourt sale*, I will never begrudge a cheap team's long-suffering fans this moment of joy.

* - It was, to my recollection, "O HAPPY DAYYYYYYY!"

Without question, it's "The Universal Baseball Association, Inc., J. Henry Waugh, Prop."

What begins as a lonely man enjoying the fantasy of his dice-baseball league goes INSAAANE at the end.
what's your favorite unpredictable genre shift in a work of art? I'm thinking here of, for instance, THE GETAWAY (the original novel) which changes from a crime thriller to a surreal allegory of hell for the last third of the book.

Hell of a dream to wake your ass up at oh-dark-30: watching a rocket launch in Florida, only to have the sucker belly-flop into a subdivision and you're quickly buried under debris. I remember a folding table, legs tucked away, landing on me...
