Okay I’ll say it. WTF ARE WE DOING having some AI bot (or character, whatever it is) interrupting live severe weather coverage? I don’t know much about Ryan, I know he’s done great things, but this is highly irresponsible, especially when so many people use him as a source of critical weather info.

I don’t know much about Ryan Hall or other online forecasters (mainly because I get my weather info from other sources), and I know he’s done good things, but WTF ARE WE DOING having some AI bot or character (whatever it is) interrupt live severe weather coverage?

An issue we're seeing at all levels of university is that many students are simply refusing to do *anything*. They aren't reading the syllabus, aren't following assignment guidelines, aren't engaging with material, ignoring deadlines. And this might seem like old news, but it truly has ramped up.

I know this is incredibly low on the national priorities list, but it’s like professional baseball doesn’t exist anymore. I just want to watch Cardinals or Royals baseball (or ANY baseball), and we can’t see it with cable or with ESPN+. Baseball is an institution and we’re losing it to greed.

You don’t see many entertainers today like Wink Martindale, who was an expert in the game show craft. There’s a lot to be learned from his hosting style - components of which are unfortunately lacking with today’s game show hosts.

People might think that whatever destruction is done to science in the US, we can undo in 4 years with a Democratic president and Congress.
The problem is that many areas require specialized knowledge and skills built up over years, and once that's lost, it's hard to get back.

The damage will be far worse than just a 4-yr gap. Both I and the individual who has managed this site for most of the past 50 yrs are retiring within the next 2 years. With this closure, we will not be able to plan a transition.
