Le Pen has announced she is running. To deal with problem a), she has announced that she will appeal today’s decision (which also helps with b because it upholds a narrative of innocence - not appealing is an implicit admission of guilt).
On the other hand, it’s hard to see how she campaign a) it she cannot physically do so (which could be the case at least for the early stages of the campaign) and b) when her adversaries will want to point out constantly that she has been found guilty of embezzlement.

Couple of thoughts on the Le Pen trial while we wait to hear about her decision on whether to stand or not. She has been found guilty, but could still run. So the judges have not made the decision for her - and it’s a difficult decision.
