You know who else thought the Treaty of Versailles was a betrayal?

That's not a rhetorical question, the answer is Hitler, and Jack consciously cites Versailles as a shoutout to Nazism because that's who Jack is
“The Civil Rights Act was the Treaty of Versailles for white people,” MAGA personality Jack Posobiec blurted out in January 2024.

That’s utterly ridiculous - but it just perfectly captures the sentiment that is driving the revanchist project of both MAGA and the AfD.

we keep having this debate on whether AI is a real problem or a bunch of marketing schemes in a trench coat.

but we SHOULD be focused on the resource drain: we don’t need LLMs! we need water! we need energy! we don’t need datacenters running diesel generators to make dancing pug videos!
AI is a threat to humanity in that it's the largest mass surveillance and hacking system we've ever built that all companies will have to rely on for security that demand endless growth energy and resources in a planet drowning in fossil fuel pollution

This is quite possibly the most tone deaf opinion piece I’ve ever read (CalMatters is fine)

Yeah buddy, the techbros aren’t paying taxes and jacking up electricity prices and chortling about how everyone is going to be out of a job soon but sure, it’s the Democratic Party that’s the problem
Opinion | Democrats have lost Silicon Valley. Here's what it will take to win it back

If Democrats want to become the party of the future again, they need to stop treating the people building the future like political enemies.

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about saying in yesterday’s show that I’d like the power to decide who lives and who dies

Let me be clear: I am asking for dominion over all life on earth, and I think that I would do a good job deciding

the biggest “job creator” in america is walmart, a third of whose employees are on public assistance
This fact also completely defangs any argument about “job creators.” Job creation means nothing when the jobs being created don’t lead to any reasonable standard of living.
A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness.

For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

HOLY SHIT DUDES

and a central tenet of the reasoning is the need to care for "our common home," i.e. you are morally obligated to think about the other people who also live here

The more than 29,000 word text calls for ecological conversion due to “sin against creation and the Creator.”
