This one hurts. I reread Pilgrim at Tinker Creek every few years and all the mystery and beauty from my first read in the 90s is still there.
Annie Dillard, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, dies at 81

Annie Dillard was unique and irreplaceable. I've given "Pilgrim at Tinker Creek" to several people over the years, and I've reread it many times. I would bet it will still be read a hundred years from now. All of her books are richly rewarding. May she rest in peace, and may she never be forgotten.

A Pentagon Inspector General report says the Iran war cost an estimated $33.4 billion between February 28 and June 30. It’s caused “strategic inventory shortfalls”.
