This is the biggest part for me in all these kinds of things.

Speaking out does have consequences in almost all circumstances. Let me be blunt:

The consequences are worth it for speaking up in this sort of situation. Losing THESE friends? THAT'S A GOOD RESULT!

The standard you walk past...
“It’s not ALL men.”

None of the 50+ men the Cornell rapists invited to come join them in raping a woman they’d drugged went to the authorities or tried to stop it.

Not all men would rape an unconscious woman, but where are the men who’d try to stop it, or EVEN FUCKING OBJECT?

I think #chemsky has discussed before how NO-ONE should be feeding unpublished or proprietary data into public models. It really feels like that is worth reiterating.

At a time when the world seems filled with hate an update on how lovely people can be. Yesterday I had to pick up the boy early from a school residential - after 2 nights he was overwhelmed and exhausted. Last night the mum of his friend messaged to check on him as her son was worried about him. 🥰

Wonderful news for our lovely Chemists' Community Fund colleagues - they work so hard to support our community through difficult times it's great to see them recognised.
Congratulations to the Chemists' Community Fund and @cara1933.bsky.social, who were named Charity Collaboration of the Year at the ACO Annual Awards! Their partnership is helping displaced and at-risk chemists & their families rebuild their careers and lives in safety. Read more: rsc.li/4yP8LRm

There has always been a large disparity in diagnosis rate between different social groups, and so always massive potential for an upward swing in the amount of people counted as autistic. Always remember that things have context, and right wingers love pretending it's not there

And again I say, social media is much more harmful to middle-aged men than it is to the under 15s.

The mobs in Dover and Portsmouth bear direct testament to that. That's what we should be concerned about, not banning kids from their social lives.
French President Emmanuel Macron has urged the European Commission to back a European Union-wide ban on social media for children under 15 after France failed to enact its own legislation, his office has said

Update:

The academic flight from Twitter is now complete and appears permanent.

April 2023, after the pandemic research surge, we recorded 2,234,307 posts sharing research on Twitter.

As of April this year, "X" had 896,741 posts about research.

That's a 60% drop in traffic.
