You know when public attention can reverse a prosecutorial decision like this you almost get the sense that the decision to shrug it off in the first place was not based on an assessment of the quality of the evidence so much as an assessment of the seriousness of the crime.

People are very resistant to the idea that patriarchy is about a relationship to power.

Is every man abusive? No, plainly not. But patriarchy affords them the ability to misuse their power in a way that people of other genders cannot. So the more power they accumulate, the greater that temptation.
A lot of people have this weird need to find the one 'good cishet white man' because they are ultimately desperate to have the One Good Patriarch. It's deeply embarrassing, and it's also why a bunch of white cis women tried to cast doubt on the rape allegations.

It's like a parody, but it's deadly serious; the Commerce Department (which includes Census, NOAA, and others) has outright deleted "don't alter or suppress scientific findings for political reasons" from its scientific integrity rules.

Seriously.

In the 1780s and 90s George Washington kept his Philadelphia-based household staff enslaved despite Pennsylvania’s gradual abolition laws by trafficking them out of the state and back into the state to reset the clock every 6 months despite the fact that he had publicly supported the laws.
This is wild. In late 2025, federal and state officials kept a Mexican woman in custody for almost a month by repeatedly rebooking her just before her 72-hour time limit ran out. www.propublica.org/article/immi...

Anyone who offers an olive branch to these people when he's out of office deserves to be ostracized from our society.
We are a broken nation. Hundreds of thousands of Haitians were living and working legally, paying taxes, and contributing. Haiti remains wholly unsafe.

But Trump hates Haitians, and the White House wanted videos of Black people in chains, so they stripped them of status and turned on the cameras.

Completely untenable to have someone who talks about a minority group like this in charge of anything, let alone being the final say in matters of equality and human rights
