“How did you get into TTRPGS”

I read the game manual for the original Baldur’s Gate and learned that it was based off an even BIGGER game manual I hadn’t read yet and, oh boy, was that exciting.

My dad let me play Diablo and Neverwinter Nights way too young, then told me all about his experiences with AD&D

The degree to which universities will go out of their way to help young men avoid felony rape charges is inexcusable.
Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

The new characters seem cool but I can’t go back to Sweat and Slurs: The MOBAning.

My patience for that particular multiplayer experience has worn thin.

An honest question:

If NDA’s were made illegal would it have any negative societal effect at all?

There are plenty of other mechanisms available to people interested in privacy and IP protection. All NDAs seem to do is encourage criminal activity.

Hearing some very conflicting reviews for both Fire Emblem Fortunes Weave and Control Resonant and I’m not really sure who to trust.

IP (Inventory Points) are the future. Get on board or get left behind.

Truly IP (Inventory Points) are the only brand of capitalism RPGs require.

Yesterday I tried out Thousand Hells: The Underworld Heists and found it to be an intriguing text-based rpg.

What’s more, it is built around a trait system and is clearly inspired by modern tabletop RPGs like Blades in the Dark.

I’m enjoying season 2 of Dark Matter so far but I can’t help but draw comparisons to one of my favorite comic series of all time, Black Science.

It’s much pulpier, to be sure. Basically an inter-dimensional Lost in Space meets Sliders meets … well … Dark Matter.

The Dagger Isles supplement seemingly borrowing ideas for '68, Band of Blades, and more to create a revolution story? Really cool.

Seeing more and more ttrpg inspired mechanics in games, I wonder if we’ll ever get a AAA “fail forward” story-centric video game.

We’ve gotten close with the normalization of “iron mode” in games but it’s definitely not the same.

A decade ago, several friends of mine had the opportunity to get involved in Blue Origin and Space X. They were each excited to play some small part in the rejuvenation of the space race.

I sometimes wonder how they feel now that both companies have proven to be vanity projects for billionaires.

Keighley's disinterest in excluding AI trailers really devalues the whole thing. These events are rarely to my taste, but the experience of watching "ONL" was one of watching slop. Even non-AI games are tainted by the association — we have to second-guess, every time.
Gamescom AI Slop Thread.

Every game from the Gamescom Opening Ceremonies that was actually AI Slop so you don't have to care about it.

I spent part of the weekend checking in on the Duskbloods network test this weekend (Fromsofts upcoming switch exclusive multiplayer game)

I found myself really activated by the fact that the scoring system is directly inspired by board games like 7 Wonders and Waterdeep.
