There is a quiet moment that arrives almost unnoticed. When the gentle realisation that life has stopped feeling like something you have to force, makes itself known.

How do you know when you’re putting your energy into the right things? You feel it deeply, resonates with your soul, lights you up.

When you feel that spark you know you’re in alignment. There's no substitute and no compensation comes close to making up for living in disharmony with your own self.

Long before it was catalogued in herbal texts or reduced to a list of medicinal constituents, Mugwort was known as a threshold plant appearing where people sought guidance beyond their ordinary senses, in places that honoured dreaming, divination, and inner knowing.

Sacred Tea Rituals with Mugwort: The Herb That Teaches You to Listen
Some herbs ask us to do something, and then there are herbs that ask us to become more tuned in before they’ll reveal themselves.

Music, herbs and the stars were once studied as parts of the same living universe. The deeper symbolism of Chiron invites us to reconnect those threads rather than treating them as separate subjects.

The fear of being misunderstood is something many women quietly carry.

We may not be afraid of being called witches anymore.
But history has taught generations of women that standing apart can come with not-so-great consequences….until we realise trusting ourselves is the greatest gift.

One of the biggest misconceptions about past-life memories is that they're fascinating stories from another time. In my experience, a memory surfaces because there's something unfinished, something understood, or something ready to be remembered in this life.
That's a very different conversation.

Wisdom usually isn't found in the biggest voices or the boldest opinions.

It's waiting for us in the conversations we have when we stop trying to be impressive and start being honest.
I crave those conversations, they speak right to my soul.

Something extraordinary happens when you make a cup or pot of tea with your full attention.

When you’re fully present and immersed in the moment, you can feel into the energy of the tea.

Yarrow and Elder flower are two of my favourite herbs at the moment. There’s something wise and comforting about those two. They always let me know when it’s time to make a ‘wisdom and channel brew’ - I know they have something exciting to tell me.

Some of the most important moments in life don't feel important when they're happening.

A conversation in the kitchen.

A walk with someone you love.

A cup of tea in the afternoon sun.

We think we'll remember them forever.

Often we don't.

I'm trying to pay a little more attention these days.

The older I get, the more I trust the things that arrive quietly.

The friendships that don't need constant attention.
The mornings that begin slowly.
The ideas that refuse to leave me alone.
The gentle knowing that doesn't need to shout to be true.

Someone once asked me what I believe.

The truth is, I'm less interested in beliefs these days than I am in paying attention.
Life has a way of revealing itself when we're willing to look a little closer.

Anyway…
That’s what was on my mind today.

Chamomile is often thought of as the go-to herb for pre bed-time teas but it can work just as well homoeopathically too.

If you have with that sleepy ready-for-bed feeling or struggle to stay alert throughout the day, Chamomile tea can gently bring you back to wakefulness, calm and observant.

Many of the women history called witches would probably recognise themselves simply as gardeners.

Women who knew which leaf soothed a fever.

Which flower calmed a worried child.

Which tea helped someone sleep.

History has a habit of changing the names of things.

Wisdom included.

I think of The Still Room as a room that has survived the centuries.
A place where herbs dry quietly while others sit in jars for when they're needed.
The kettle is always warm. No one rushes your thinking.
Some spaces change the world simply because they allow you to be, to hear yourself again.

This morning I made a tisane of lemon balm, hawthorn and passionflower. Nothing complicated. Just what my nervous system asked for. Even with all my years of practice, I still find it remarkable that the plants know before I do.

I don't think it's the coffee that makes mornings sacred.
Or the tea.
It's the pause before the world begins asking things of us.
Five quiet minutes can sometimes tell us more than five busy hours.

I suspect many of us arrive at this moment at some point during our lives. Where the life we’ve built and the life that’s calling us forward are no longer heading in the same direction.

Set the goal. Create the plan. Follow the steps. Reach the destination.

And yet, if you’ve lived long enough, you’ve probably discovered what I have discovered over and over again:

The moments that shape us most deeply are rarely the ones we planned.
