Playing with the P, I, and D weights in a PID controller.

P = Proportional: push in proportion to how far the ball is off
I = Integral: accumulate historical error to fix slow drift
D = Derivative: respond to how fast the error is changing, to damp it

OK, so no one cares, but lately I've been feeling really jazzed about *social convention*! My paper "Convention for One" will be published in Thought, and argues we have conventions with ourselves that are very much like standard group conventions cailinoconnor.com/wp-content/u...

For anyone who wants to know why I want to burn down Oxford style analytic philosophy and then salt the Earth where it stood, this is the thread for you. It covers: vagueness, time/space, coalgebraic modal logic, thermodynamics, Leibniz’s God, David Lewis, quantum mechanics, and God *as* dice.
I hate epistemicism with a burning passion, because it’s the one solution to the problem of vagueness that says “Pfah, no problem here!”. I’m all for dissolving false problems, but it doesn’t even rise to the level of an actual dissolution, because that would require more analysis than “Nuh, uh!”
