Gar's novels - a thread.
First, we've got the Black Iron Legacy series, starting with THE GUTTER PRAYER.
Three thieves - runaway Carillon Thay, slowly petrifying Spar, and corpse-eating ghoul-monster Rat - get embroiled in a web of intrigue and sorcery. Crazed gods, alchemy-punk, high weirdness.

Alan Moore & Melinda Gebbie's "This is Information" from the 2002 9/11 Tribute Anthology comic is one of my favorite comics ever – its metaphorical approach to narrative had a profound influence on my comics making. I share bits of it in class frequently, but worth revisiting on this day...

I just finished The Sword Triumphant, the final instalment in Gareth Hanrahan's excellent epic "Lands of the Firstborn" fantasy trilogy that starts from a lot of fantasy/tabletop cliches and then asks "what if the world was like this?" and follows them to their logical conclusions.
