September is the start of pupping season for Grey Seals in Wales. Help protect pups on beaches by:

Keeping your distance- stay 100m away
Putting your dog on a lead

Most pups alone on beaches are fine, and being cared for by their mothers.

Spotlight on: Cross-leaved Heath

Cross-leaved Heath has greyer foliage than the similar species Bell Heather, with leaves arranged in cross-shaped whorl, and paler, more lilac-pink flowers.

Cross-leaved Heath loves rhos pastures and wet, boggy heathlands.

Spotlight on: Slow worms

Slow worms are garden friends- they like slow-moving prey, and that means they eat slugs!

They are also ovoviviparous, meaning the eggs hatch while they're still in the female's body, and so she ‘gives birth’ to live young.

Sylw i: Nadroedd Defaid

Mae Nadroedd Defaid yn ffrindiau yn yr ardd - maen nhw'n hoffi ysglyfaeth sy'n symud yn araf, ac mae hynny'n golygu eu bod nhw'n bwyta gwlithod!

Maen nhw hefyd yn fewnddeorol, sy'n golygu bod yr wyau'n deor tra maen nhw dal yng nghorff y fenyw.

National Marine Week starts today.

Our seas face so many pressures, but what can we, as individuals, do to help? Most marine litter starts on land, so we can all reduce our use of single-use plastics. Choosing sustainable seafood is another way we can help.
