The true enemies of a free society are apathy, ignorance, and cynicism. These are powerful forces, but they can be countered somewhat effectively with optimism, curiosity, logic, empathy, and healthy dialogues. Human beings who treat each other with respect can easily discuss many things sensibly.
Made some decisions today, about spending the next year in a very peaceful and friendly, extremely liberal town, while I write two novels and record some new music. It seems like a healthy choice for me right now. Books do not write themselves, so you do have to schedule the writing in, I suppose...

Personally, I believe that opposing racism and all forms of hate is currently the most important thing to do. I believe this is true for several reasons. Firstly, I feel it is a moral imperative. Human beings are all actually so similar that it is truly wrong for any humans to persecute others...

Today is a good day to remember that if everyone you love is safe and happy that is all that truly matters. Give them all a hug, and tell them they are valuable to you, as it is the people that you love who matter most in this life.

It is a strange thing with perspective, when you know that you have had the very worst day that you could ever possibly have, then all other days seem less serious, and all other obstacles seem less daunting, and all of life itself is viewed through that lens, that it will never be that bad again.

When someone that you truly care about seems to be having a mental health crisis it can be very difficult to figure out how to help them, especially if they seemingly refuse help. Nonetheless, it is important to offer to help, because they are having a crisis and you do truly care about them.

There is something seriously wrong with our society. In America it is actually very difficult to measurably improve the quality of life for a disabled person without messing up their status as a disabled person. Disabled people definitely deserve a sensible quality of life. Our society is very sick.

Sometimes people can be confusing with communication, but if you look at the consequences of whatever choices they make it is usually easy to see what they fully intended and definitely wished to create with their own personal energy. It is usually obvious, although not always healthy or sensible...

Looks like after I sell the house I may spend some time at the beach, and probably do a little traveling for a while. It will be a much needed change for me after the last few months. It seems like a good opportunity to explore new possibilities in life. Sometimes endings really are also beginnings.

Going from denial to acceptance with a loss takes time, but with time, serious effort, lots of reading books related to the issue, lots of journaling to get feelings out, and a serious focus on the necessity to make that journey, it really is possible to start feeling the acceptance wholeheartedly.

I woke up today feeling really happy, happier than I have in a very long time. I got some truly great news last night, and a longstanding extremely complicated problem that I had no clue how to solve got completely solved by somebody else, which is awesome!..

Two months into this new chapter of my life, as of this morning, and it is going pretty well, all things considered. So far, so good. Adapting to change is really an important thing, so in this instance I really have been actively trying to adapt in the most positive ways possible, which has helped.

Romance
Some may wonder if true love with real romance actually exists, or if it appears to be so elusive for them personally because it is imaginary, like in a fairy tale. The answer is fairly simple. It...

Sometimes, when you really think through some problem that has been bothering you seriously enough to require a great deal of thought, you do end up with a pretty simple solution, in that the reason it seemed unsolvable was because you were not understanding that it was not your problem to solve.

Drawing this morning with conte and charcoal pencils. It is refreshing to enjoy creating artwork that is not on screens these days, just like I am really enjoying writing with pencils on paper. It is funny how different the experience really is, and how using screens does not actually feel as good.

Looks like I am on track to be moved out by the first week of October, which is wonderful. I am really looking forward to living in a new town after so many years here. I am excited to go to all new places, meet all new people, and finally have the healthy new beginning I have been working towards.

I have known truly valuable human beings who definitely never get access to proper mental health care, and some of them are actually on disability for their mental health issues. The actual coverage our government provides for that is deficient and truly unacceptable for meeting such serious needs.

“Settle for disorder in lesser things for the sake of order in greater things; therefore, be content to be discontent in many things.” — Anonymous
I tend to embrace this idea. In the last few months I try to remind myself of this often as things move away from the negative and towards the positive.

This is a remix of Dreams Decay, which is a song I wrote, performed on two guitar tracks and recorded with Audacity. The remix is intentionally less clean sounding, which I am enjoying today.

In most circumstances, I try to forgive others when I do not believe they meant harm, or when they could not have realistically done better, or when they simply did not understand what they were doing. It feels way better to forgive, whenever possible.
