John Swinney has confirmed GPS tracking for men accused of domestic abuse will finally begin in Scotland, with a pilot taking place early next year. Legislation will also be brought forward to try and better combat violence against women and girls

There's some incredible, bigoted irony in tabling an amendment which essentially says "not all men" then goes on to demonise men from migrant backgrounds in the very next breath. Stay classy, Reform, you absolute weirdos.

As far as violence against women and girls is concerned, the Programme for Government amounts to the misogyny bill they refused to do last session, a public health campaign, and support services being told to wait until Budget time to see what apparent funding commitments look like in reality.

Last month the Scottish courts service warned waits for High Court trials will almost triple from 50 weeks to 135 weeks by 2028. With increased wait times in the reporting of sexual offences, survivors of rape will be expected to wait up to five years for justice process to conclude. (1/4)
Excl: The Crown Office has warned that SNP ministers have not provided any funding to set up the flagship sexual offences court. The court was a key part of the Victims, Witnesses and Justice Reform Act and will improve outcomes for survivors and cut court backlogs.

Weird that Reform in Holyrood won't sign their press releases off with an actual media contact. Weirder, their own head of comms refuses to publicly acknowledge that he actually works for them and describes himself on LinkedIn as a "Director of Communications for the Scottish Parliament" instead.

A timely reminder that men in the UK weren't prosecuted for raping a woman they were married to until the late 1980s.
On press regulation, a journalist once contacted a *rape survivor* they had interviewed years ago to try and get my boss' personal phone number. I complained to IPSO and was told they could only proceed with a complaint if I made the identity of survivor known to IPSO and the offending publication.

The thing that pisses me off about Warren Ellis is that these women specifically created a process for him to apologize and try to make amends *because they considered him so good and important for the industry* and he blew them off completely.
As a reminder, in 2020, more than 60 people accused Warren Ellis of grooming and sexual impropriety, coming together to create the website somanyofus.com.
In its most recent update, in 2023, the site posted: "To the best of our knowledge, Warren Ellis took none of the steps we hoped he would."
