Maybe its rose tinted glasses but I feel like conventions have become very low quality as of late.

Like every stall is a bunch of 3D printed models that anyone can buy the file for, mystery boxes that are certainly full of junk, and there are very few artists with original cool shit :/

Merry Go Round of Life from Howl's Moving Castle.

It's been almost exactly a year since I started learning this song. It's easily been the hardest thing I've ever had to learn.

I literally quit guitar for 6 months because it frustrated me too much 💀

But ENJOY!

What the fucken hell do better @baftagames.bsky.social this i so shameful.

Multiple times Alyx offered to make changes. Trailer work infamously deals with lots of last minute changes and moving parts. And despite that, the door was open to make further changes, but no, cancelled THE NIGHT BEFORE.
BAFTA pulling a trailer for an autobiographical game about surviving sexual assault only hours before it was said to be a part of a showcase is an exceptionally bad look.

It's so funny to read converative posts about the Trump Jesus Tweet.

They can all be boiled down to: "I can't condone this one".

What the fuck do you mean you could condone THE OTHER THINGS?

I used to see this kind of stuff a lot with story based games outside of RPGs (Especially around The Last of Us and Horizon). Yes those games are story based, but they're not self insert games.

A character making bad choices does not inherently make a narrative worse.
For anyone who doesn't know what the current discourse re: books and perspective is about

I offer you a lovely flashbang of information

And also some bog standard misogyny to go with the inability to understand that 1st person is a character telling YOU what happened, not you self-inserting

Shoutout to the game I'm working on being entirely squares.
We also have a shitty JPG hammer with some VFX work!

Me when I learned that Jesse Schell's Game Designer's Notebook talk was about using genAI.

I just walked out.

I swear you literally cannot win in this industry
I cannot emphasize enough that these people are being laid off for failing to do things that are literally impossible

We are literally goverened by morons who are in the pursuit of destroying art.
🚨 It looks like the UK government is gearing up to upend copyright law in favour of AI companies, legalising the theft of their work.

This is despite creatives' huge protests, and despite previous proposals being roundly rejected by the public.

Please spread the word.

Is it weird to say I think Firewatch might be a revolutionary game?
Ten years ago today we shipped Firewatch. I say this every anniversary but it feels both like a lifetime ago and like it was yesterday. Thank you everyone who played it back then or played it today for the first time. Thank you to everyone on the team, I’m still so proud of what we made.

One of the worst parts of applying for jobs is how I'm expected to write thousands of words tailored to a specific job, then just move on like I didn't spend like an hour or two on it only to see "we've gone with someone else, also no feedback".

I think applying for jobs has been the single most demoralising thing I've ever done in my life. Not just games industry, just in general.

Stressing about money knowing there's no fucking end in sight for unemployment. It's awful.

Using genAI for concept art is so fucking stupid because like... that's where you get the cool shit. Thats the blue sky phase where artists make pieces of art that will be seen by a teenager later and change their life forever. Why would you want to start from mediocre. Why would you do that.

Truly will avoid every game that uses Gen AI in some way (until some proper regulation but that's a pipe dream so probably forever).
Ubisoft boss believes generative AI is as big a revolution for games as the shift to 3D, as tech is embraced company-wide
