We're asking for feedback as we prioritize which issues to focus on during and beyond the October 17th municipal election.

Our survey takes less than 3 minutes!

In the 2022 muni elections, only 1 in 3 Oak Bay voters made it to the polls.* (civicinfo.bc.ca)

Thanks to all who stopped by the community feedback event at the Fire Hall today. This plan has been in the works since 2009-2011...we really need to get moving on these routes! (pun intended).

From Erick Villagomez in @thetyee.ca on the importance of both constituents and councillors leanring how local government works, so that we can fix what doesn't.

the best way to put it is that these people are not *voters*, if the term denotes a person who routinely goes to the polls to cast a ballot. they are, instead, *trump fans* who go to the polls to cast a ballot for donald trump, who is their parasocial father

Delighted to see so many first-time candidates file nomination papers to run for local office!

Cars/trucks are a lot bigger and heavier and dangerous than they were when we were kids.

Let's work on getting safe crossings built for everyone.
Full-sized SUVs are pedestrian killers.

New research finds that they're more than twice as likely to kill or seriously injure a pedestrian than other cars. (Notably, vehicle height—not weight—was the biggest risk factor.)

What a great time picnicking at Quimper Park on this chilly and, dare we say, autumnal last Sunday of August!

It was wonderful to see both familiar and new faces, and we had some fantastic conversations.

We hope so too. Thank you to the brilliant Maggie Knight for putting into words what so many of us are feeling.
“Someday they will ask me what we did about the climate emergency. We tried so hard, I will say. We knew, we organized, we pushed for change. I hope I will be able to say we finally came to our collective senses.” Maggie Knight writes. 🌎

The voter turnout in #OakBayBC in 2022 was just 32.4%. We can and must do better!

Picnicking rain or shine tomorrow! We’ve got a big tent. Both literally and figuratively.
Our July potluck picnic is coming up, and we're still celebrating Pride :-) Hope you can stop by! We'll be over by the running wolf sculptures in the shade.
