A slightly misleading headline – the bills are now before select committee. They won't pass this term.

Urgency in this case reduced time between intro and first reading and was otherwise used similarly to extended sitting.

Fair to critique this but don't conflate with skipping select committee.

So RNZ bosses are sacking Forbes and Ferguson despite the listener numbers improving during an overall downturn?

It's starting to feel like it's becoming less like Radio New Zealand and more Radio Auckland

Just joking. @1NewsNZ has no political editor in run up to election. Just Jason RW Walls doing PR puff pieces for the coalition.

The NZ Govt's doubled down on fossil fuels in a climate crisis. It weakened fuel efficiency standards on imported vehicles, did a go-slow on EV chargers, removed incentives for EVs, ended all funding for cycleways. Now petrol and diesel price rises are driving cost of living and inflation.

In this deeply uninspiring election, why not back an idea so crazy it just might work?
It’s a truth that’s been universally, repeatedly, and loudly acknowledged that this is a deeply, uninspiring election, writes Verity Johnson.

Indeed, what does happen when the person who saves us in a crisis quits their job?

What happens when person who repeatedly saved us was driven from their job by a segment of the population fueled by disinformation created by foreign influence & amplified local right leaning news media?

Labour needs to be clearer that it will rip up any agreement this govt signs during election with zero compensation. Counterparties need to be clearly warned.
Weakness on this invites LNG gamblers to frame deal simply for a payout.

"This Bill removes the focus on the four ‘well-beings’ and puts councils back on core services like roading, infrastructure, water and rubbish"

The four well-beings—no scare quotes needed!—were: the social, economic, environmental & cultural well-being of communities. Alas; no longer a local remit.

Please, please, remember none of these 'policies' are worth the (electronic) paper they are written on, and/or the air they are announced on😡.

Many will be ditched post-election during coalition negotiations where all will be 'on the table'.

Remember last time. Learn from last time🙏🏾.

Well done @greens.org.nz for truly shoving the Overton window very far left. Your policy to finally do something real about the supermarket duopoly was enough to force National to reply with a watered down "promise to think about doing something" vote grab just days before the election.
