Of all the things I loathe about Trump, the one that just kinda bugs me the most is that he forced me to admire Liz Cheney.

Clarence Thomas says the 14th Amendment should be read narrowly because it was written for formerly enslaved people.
By that logic, the 2nd Amendment was written for muskets, not AR-15s.

Remember Appomattox. Wealthy planter Lee led an army of small time farmers who may, or may not, have ever owned a slave. But, like a lot of people today, those poor white boys fought to starvation and death for a system designed to keep them poor. As long as *someone* in it got to own a slave.

I wonder if republicans will be able to turn on a dime with guns the way they did with releasing the Epstein files? I would have said it would be impossible, but it sure seems like they might try.

We’re clearly in law vs kingly whim and courtly calculation territory. I’m hoping the obsequious billionaire class calculates that Trump directly in charge of their money is a very bad idea. I am not optimistic as courtly calculations tend to be very short term and highly insulated.
