This is pretty much word-for-word what Mamdani said, so if you're shitting on this, you're just showing everyone you're a hypocrite who should never be listened to on anything.
Talarico: "I would love as the next US senator from Texas to work with Trump to actually fulfill some of the promise of his political project. Because the promise of MAGA was that we were gonna transform this govt so that it delivered for the people who have been left time, been forgotten."

Just got done with what has been an excruciatingly long day of chasing small children, and I'm seeing some of you on here dooming, and I got to be honest, it's all sad.

So sit down for story time with Drunk On Mystery(baybay).

Today was my oldest son's 9th birthday party.

Jamo's point about the bylines is the critical indicator here. When the Times decides they really want to juice a story, they assign multiple reporters to it - in this case, NINE - which produces a torrent of articles, which then convinces everyone else in the media that this is a Really Big Deal
I wrote about the New York Times’ multimedia full-court press on the dumb Alaska story — a dozen print, video, audio, and newsletter reports at last count — and the news media’s responsibility to cover things in proportion to their importance.

"I would sacrifice an electoral victory to protect this marginalized group" is a stupid thing to say because the electoral victory is a necessary prerequisite for literally any protection of the marginalized group.

You're not a punk badass revolutionary. You will not heroically protect anyone.

When Ramaswamy weaponized Amy Acton's child rape Vance said "politics is a tough business" and told people to "stop whining."

When two Dan Sullivans are running on the ballot in Alaska Vance said Mary Peltola committed a "moral failing".

Make it make sense.

Sir Ian McKellen has made a statement on the tragic passing of Sir Patrick Stewart.

“He wore his heart on his sleeve, which made him a man to rely on, to admire and in my case, love.”

I had the wonderful good fortune to become friends with Patrick Stewart & his wife Sunny. As so many obituaries and remembrances are attesting, he was indeed, generous, kind & hilarious - in addition to being a titan of stage & screen. Love from my family to his.

the defenses of the NYT Alaska story that are like "well it's news! of course they should report it!" are all missing the point

the WAY they are reporting it, in breathless front page Comey letter terms, above and beyond every other election story (including Trump/Epstein) is the problem

i really dislike this constant tendency amongst journalists to defend stories like this in the abstract. this story and the NYT’s coverage of it is like many other times the NYT has chosen to make mundane politics stories into almost exclusively dem scandals immediately before an election
People who think the Times shouldn’t report on who is behind a Potemkin candidate should really ask themselves if they’d feel that way if such a move might hurt a candidate they favored. This is not a “hit piece” or an “October surprise,” it is journalism.

And this is an excellent start. Send the people following illegal orders to jail, & work your way up. Don't stop at the Oliver Norths. We did that before, & it is exactly why we are here now:

And yes, use the power of the purse aggressively:
Raskin and Jayapal also tell me they're mulling aggressive subpoenaing of *mid-level players* executing corrupt prosecutions. Trump/WH will try to ignore subpoenas but will *all* underlings do so? Defunding is answer to flouting of subpoenas too.

It's a good way to restore Cong power over exec:

what is the evidence that Alaska has blown up in the Dem's faces
In both Montana and Alaska, Democrats completely misread the national political environment and decided (wrongly!) that their only chance to win was to mislead voters. Both efforts blew up in their faces. Compare that to what is going on in South Carolina and Kansas.

Officially 8 months into an illegal war the President said would only take a few weeks.

22 servicemembers killed.
Hundreds more wounded.
Munitions stockpile drained.
Military bases damaged.
Diplomatic footprint eroded.
$47+ billion spent.

Republican inaction is unforgivable.

He’s backing an election denier who has spent the election saying El-Sayed isn’t an American. Zero actionable difference between this and being MAGA
