The @vscode.dev documentary was such a great watch, I thought I knew most of the story but there are so many details that are fleshed out in this almost 2 hour whopper

Cool to see @typescriptlang.org shipping a bunch of the long-term 'we don't think we have the perf budget to add these features' issues now that the go port is stable!

They must be having a blast

Excited that TypeScript will finally support module types based on import attributes!

Bundlers and frameworks can now provide accurate types for custom imports:

I've 1.0.0'd my Danger JS re-write today: Risk

If you use Danger in GitHub + GitHub Actions then it should be a simple dependency switch and you'd end up with substantially less moving parts

I've been using it daily in Puzzmo for 6 months with no issues

7 months ago I did a big "Upgrade to vite/rolldown" PR ( bsky.app/profile/orta... ) which reduced @puzzmo.com build times solidly.

Today we have experimental support for the react compiler in Vite natively (via oxc)

This managed to get all of puzzmo.com built in @vite.dev in under 3 seconds now!

Shipped the first version of Danger JS to use trusted publishing.

For the longest time Danger operated on the Moya community guidelines (if you get a PR merged, we'll offer you org access) which meant if GitHub write access was what mattered, then we had over 200 people who could make deploys!

I've bumped all of the @typescriptlang.org compiler usage in @puzzmo.com to now use TS7 and the new compiler API. All looks very reasonable and has every feature I needed for codegen and AST introspection

Literally no notes :+1:

The API comes in sync and async flavors. You import from "unstable" for now, but it's not going to change architecturally before 7.1. Breaks will be mostly targeted renames/moves. You access programs through obtaining immutable snapshots. There will be more ways coming soon. More on this later.

If you’re not stalking TypeScript PRs, you might be surprised how much you can do with the API in nightlies (and even in 7.0 stable), so here’s a tiny demo that I think hits some of the highlights. 🧵

Thanks for mentioning the APIs and arethetypeswrong! ❤️ I feel like I need to get the word out that the compiler APIs are available today in nightlies, and even in 7.0, they’re just under “typescript/unstable” to make it clear that we reserve the right to make breaking changes before 7.1.

They are not quite complete but they’re getting pretty close! Several projects (like ts-loader) have already started building against them. The feedback from those early adopters has been super valuable but I’m getting the sense a lot of folks don’t know it exists already!

Bought a new t-shirt in the size "small" for the first time in a few years, and it's a great fit!

This year I've lost 6kg (13lb) in fat from the gym and gained a tonne of muscle. It's been fun.
