The Everton Byline, out Tuesdays 🎧
Not a great Everton display. Lacked clinical edge in front of goal & kept 10-man Ipswich in game until very end, ensuring a nervy finish. Sloppy with short passing at times & also too many aimless long balls.

But another win. Still unbeaten. Showing resilience. Excellent start to season

Jarrad Branthwaite had a month in Germany over summer, seeking solutions to his injury issues.

"Mentally tough" period but now looks back close to his best, and has his eye on a run of games

So important to Everton. England next?

An evening through the eyes of 2 Evertonian PM's

Andy Burnham called on the club to bring back 'Super Jack', but it was another winger playing with rolled down socks who caught the eye

It was always Everton for Jack Grealish, despite Sunderland's offer & tentative interest from Aston Villa

#EFC made another big financial commitment to secure him

Absolutely amazed the 'Everton that' scenario was avoided & Spurs didn't score. They definitely could have in that first 15-20 mins, but some #EFC improvement after that

Seeing plaudits for Branthwaite, Myko but that was comfortably Garner's best game since returning too

A decent point for Everton. Some superb defending from Branthwaite and co. But could & probably should have been even better - KDH & Johnson along those to miss presentable chances

Merlin Rohl injured, we're told. Precise nature of the problem not specified yet. So a first Everton start for Ainsley Maitland-Niles after his heroics last week

Free agents are free agents for a reason. Could any of them help a threadbare Everton? Maybe.

But there are no ideal solutions now. Expectation, as it stands, is that they'll likely go with what they've got

Two stunning goals and a well-earned point for Everton. Squad still very short of depth & quality in certain areas, but can't fault character

Hackney made a difference off the bench - always looking for progressive option - and what a strike from Maitland-Niles!
