NVDA announced buy back is 1.2 times NI LTM, already inflated by equity stakes gains on other AI investments.
It seems very different structurally than AAPL’ one. AAPL buyback is ex-growth, with no customer-financing book, at 2% coupons. NVDA is doing it while underwriting its own demand. ⤵️

Strait of Hormuz flows are hovering at ~13-14 million barrels a day (7-day average). That's about the same as the brief peak in July. But with two notable difference: a) Iranian flows are zero (rather than ~2m b/d); b) all flows are fresh loadings, rather than pre-loaded tankers.-Bloomberg

China’s path is quite similar to Japan’s. Credit expansion (fueled by land-backed loans) and business activity expansion. Imbalances exported. Credit tightening meant even more exports (but with increasingly diminishing returns). Japan businesses next step was kudos (hollowing out)⤵️
I just finished Logan Wright's new book on the Chinese economy. It provides a great deal of data to support the claim that China’s enormous credit expansion is running out of room, leaving Beijing under growing pressure to rely on exports to keep economic activity from declining.

The former is a proxy for GDP and the latter for consumption. When GDP grows faster than consumption, the economy must balance either with a rise in investment or a surge in the trade surplus. In August, fixed asset investment plunged 7.2% year to date, deepening from a 6.7% fall in July.
