An unpublished photograph from our files.

This photo was taken during our first visit to Hellfire Caves, Buckinghamshire, in 2007. At the time, it seemed like little more than a routine reference photograph. Looking back, it's fair to say It became part of a much bigger story.

The research continues, new article coming soon.

Sometimes, you visit a location and you 'feel' the fingerprints of someone that shouldn't be there.
Well, after a year of two of research, we've finally found the trail of breadcrumbs left behind.

Today marks 11 years since Laura and I revisited Orford Castle in Suffolk.

Although we'd both been there previously, neither of us expected that day's visit to lead to a series of discoveries, follow-up investigations, and even an unexpected response from English Heritage.

I've seen a few posts recently relating to Hellfire Caves, West Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire, which brought back memories of the first time Laura and I worked together, where we visited the same historic location, back in February 2007.

Delighted to share my recent interview with Jimmy from Spooky Appalachia

What began as a single reported Mothman sighting to Jimmy a couple of years ago, in a small Essex Village, has evolved into one of the most fascinating research projects we've ever undertaken.

Following up on a lead, back in 2024, kindly passed to us by @spookyappalachia , relating to a 30 year old Mothman sighting in the UK, we were shocked to find it related to a neighbouring village, in Essex.

Our first visit culminated in an unexpected event....

An historical source reported an evil spirit had been exorcised at Chilton, near Sudbury and, imprisoned within a bottle before being thrown into a pond behind the village church.

Over 160 years later, there was just one problem.

Nobody seemed to know where the pond had actually been.

Moments before this photo was taken inside the upper level of Landguard Fort, Laura entered the adjoining bathroom of Fire Officers’ Quarters F7 & was immediately told, very loudly, to “Fuck off” by what she described as a male voice.

The reaction you can see in the image was captured seconds later

I saw this beginning to trend earlier today, so thought I'd give it a try - asking AI to write an unhinged unbio, just for fun.

Laura believes she doesn't have enough online presence for one.

I did one for her anyway and, a dual one, for us both.

I was expecting far worse, I was disappointed.

The History Alchemist (not on this platform sadly) recently posted about a visit he'd made to St Barnabas Church in Alphamstone, Essex, to study a set of Sarsen stones to be found at the location, both surrounding and part of the church structure itself.

Somewhere in rural Essex, a quiet riverside village has become the centre of deeply unsettling reports dating back over 30 years.

What began as a simple referral would ultimately draw us into one of the strangest investigations we have undertaken. More soon.

A couple of years ago we found ourselves on a journey, which (so far) culminated at this Church.

Here Laura surveys the building and, although we found the church to be locked on this occasion, she'd already 'found' where our target in the church lay. We shall be back.

The 12th Century west front of Castle Acre Priory, Norfolk.

Although, sadly, the heat experienced on the day we visited affected things greatly, two decades ago I was fortunate to be part of two private investigations at the location.

At the southern point of our search we find this - 'The Washington Memorial Stone'

Laid in 1928 for the Rev Lawrence Washington, the great great Grandfather of George Washington, the first President of the United States of America, who rests nearby in the church yard.

The Mermaid Inn, the morning after.

Although we didn't come away with much, such a fantastic, historical location, where many luminaries have passed through, some, I'm sure, you'd rather not have met.

We'll be back. Some day.

Harwich's High and Low Lighthouses, both constructed in 1818. Laura has always wanted to visit the High Lighthouse, perhaps we shall manage it this year.

Absolutely used to being spammed by the usual culprits but lately we're receiving emails requesting our services as 'ghost hunters'.

Whilst we're relatively happy with the comparative charm of being marketed hauntings rather than hedge fund bets, is anyone else experiencing this?
