I just found myself writing the words "by Suella Braverman's logic" then realised it was an oxymoron.

@aiannucci.bsky.social Morning. I can't help but feel that "panda diplomacy" - which I've heard on the news this week - is a phrase ripe for further discussion on Strong Message Here.

What happens if you have legitimate concerns about someone else’s legitimate concerns?

You’d probably need to have some sort of system to represent that this stuff is complicated. Maybe a debating chamber and votes. Perhaps different voices and views could be represented there.

I totally missed that Chris Langham had died a few weeks ago. Slightly torn on my feelings on this, as obviously his (second) fall from grace raised some serious questions (and I'm not sure I believed his defence) but he made some extraordinarily fine work.

Hi, cycling pundits. Can you please stop saying that no one has done the Worlds Time Trial & Road Race double in the same year, when Anna van der Breggen achieved this in 2020. What you mean is no MAN has ever done it, because men are shit.

The BBC continues to avoid being slapped around by rivals by continually and forcefully punching itself in the face.
NEW: BBC reducing the number of local specialist correspondent roles.

Instead, each BBC region going down to two dedicated, multi-platform correspondents (generalists, not specialists).

Will no doubt prompt concerns about reduced local knowledge and expertise. Story coming.

This may sound like the nonsense "it was better in my day" ramblings of a silly old man, but I genuinely believe that TV was a much richer experience with fewer channels and the necessity to have to wait for things to be screened. We've made art so disposable we can't see the value in it.

Worth remembering that the future king worked for the RNLI for a time. I'm quietly anti Monarchist (though I bare no dislike for any of them as people), but it's another thing that the supposed patriots seem not to have considered.
