Hi Bluesky! Proud to be in the PA Senate working for—and with—the people of Pennsylvania for safe streets, freedom of movement, housing for all, care for all, fully resourced public schools, true justice in our systems, respect and dignity for workers, and a healthy, livable climate. Let’s do it.
A gorgeous morning at Philly’s annual Labor Day Parade. Generations of workers fought for the protections we have today. We honor their victories by continuing this fight until all people have safe working conditions, fair wages, and dignity for our labor.

It is unacceptable for a world-class city like ours to allow its major natural history museum to close. We cannot allow it. My statement ⬇️

The PA Universal Healthcare Act would ensure that all Pennsylvanians and residents of other states who work at least 20 hours per week within our Commonwealth can get comprehensive, high-quality healthcare.

A momentous time in our home, with Ishaan in 2nd grade and Mayukh in kindergarten! Our family is one of hundreds of thousands heading back to school across the district. Each year, I’m more awed by the care of our educators, the commitment of our staff, and the brilliance of our students. #phled

This year’s budget makes strides to support Pennsylvanians at all moments of their lives, but to truly meet this moment of incredible financial hardship, our constituents need their representatives to be loud, clear, and uncompromising. This is a budget of missed opportunity.

Congratulations to IBEW Local 614 on winning a contract that provides members with respect, dignity, and good wages and fair benefits. These are the workers who ensure our City’s grid is running and all of us can stay safe.

In mournful celebration, we remember the legacy and life of Shirley Kitchen. As the second Black woman elected to the Pennsylvania Senate, she opened pathways for other Black elected officials and people of color.
Trailblazing Pa. state legislator Shirley Kitchen dies at 79

IBEW Local 614 members work around the clock to ensure safe, reliable electric service throughout the region. Proud to join my colleagues in calling on PECO to bargain with the union in earnest and arrive at a deal that respects the workers and safeguards our constituents.

The people of the United States deserve and should expect our highest court to represent the realities of our lives and make decisions that respect our laws. Instead, each June, we brace ourselves against an onslaught of attacks against our rights.

We all deserve a safe home, yet too many Americans can't afford crucial home repairs - a growing issue as we watch the destructive impacts of climate change. I was proud to vote for Whole-Home Repairs in '22, and excited see this bipartisan program now help countless Americans nationwide.
When we first passed Whole-Home Repairs, we hoped it would offer a blueprint for other states grappling with how to preserve aging housing stock and protect their residents. Today’s passage of the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act shows the realization of this hope.

Our communities have been traumatized by unidentified masked operators kidnapping neighbors and loved ones outside their homes, at their jobs, and off the streets. During this time of terror and chaos, the passage of ICE OUT offers hope.

Pride is a protest and celebration born
from the collective power of community. I’m grateful to my colleagues in City Council who heeded Philadelphians’ calls for action in response to footage of police violence during Pride festivities in the Gayborhood.

The loss of Dito van Reigersberg, better known to the world as Martha Graham Cracker, is heartbreaking. Our office sends our sincere condolences to Dito’s loved ones, collaborators, and all who he inspired. We grieve along with our entire city for this singular icon.
Van Reigersberg helped expand what drag could look and sound like in Philadelphia: theatrical, literary, absurd, deeply musical, and emotionally alive.
