“A.i.” is for abuse.
NEW: I recently reported how Meta ran hundreds of ads containing AI-generated child sexual abuse.

Links in those ads and other nudify ads, led us to a network of more than 400 apps disguising themselves as everyday AI

When opened they would transform into deepfake abuse apps
Hundreds of Mundane AI Apps Are Hiding Sexually Abusive Deepfake Features
WIRED uncovered some 400 apps and websites linked to Chinese-language developers that look like regular AI tools but had secret features that let users create violent AI-generated images and video.

I kinda think that at some point we need to take seriously the idea that society as it is constituted now is driving a lot of people completely mad

Sending my very best wishes to @chrismurphyct.bsky.social. Grateful to learn he's expected to make a full recovery. Here's hoping it happens expeditiously.

Looking forward to serving alongside the Senator down in DC come January.

Like if you DIDN'T have a dot com you were being left behind for real and seen as not cool, now they're sprinting away from anything related to AI because everyone hates it. That's not the sign of anything the people are ever gonna want.

A big chunk of people who love AI weren't around during the early days of the internet but I can assure you no one ever felt the need to rebrand anything to avoid being associated with the big tech of the moment. 'Don't call it email please' never happened because that shit just did what it said

(headlines: "trump's speech becomes more vulgar and muddled", followed by a pretty uncharacteristically straightforward description of how he's been recently)

this is either so they can smugly point to 1 of 100,000 times they weren't glazing him, or it's hedging a bet reading the wind

WNBA fans have particularly thanked the Valkyries’ Gabby Williams and coach Natalie Nakase for supporting trans kids and fans… who just won the Championship 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️
did your brain melt this summer as Fox News ran 8+ hours of Sophie Cunningham/TERF coverage?

to you I present the many trans fans, affirming parents of trans kids, and WNBA players who are pro-Black, pro-trans, pro-woman.

“The majority of the fanbase is standing up saying: ‘No, this isn’t right.’”
The right is pushing its anti-trans fury on the WNBA. Players and fans are loudly pushing back
As the WNBA finals kick off Saturday in San Francisco, the pro-LGBTQ+ sports fanbase push a message of inclusion in the face of anti-trans attacks

i know these people are very stupid but even still i can’t quite figure out how this is a “fraud.” like, peltola needs the majority of votes to win. alaskans would be defrauded by…voting for her?

My take on the backstabbing in Michigan. Some muckity mucks in the Dem Party (1) believe we can win back the Senate without Abdul, (2) don’t want to be in a coalition with him even if it costs us the Senate, or (3) Haley has main character syndrome not principles (her fiancée funded Susan Collins)

OpenAI is training its replacement. Household needs aren't going to scale with capability. Demand will flatten at the heaviest common use, just like it did with storage and bandwidth. Consumers will buy hardware that cost $100 and never pay OpenAI another dime.

Bad: Alaska's GOP governor just refused to commit to certifying Mary Peltola if she wins Senate race. Trump is seizing on NYT story to pressure Rs to decline to certify her.

I talked to election law experts. They explain why this will likely fail but get very nasty:

Inside Trump’s Dark Plot to Keep Senate in GOP Hands Even If Dems Win
Senate control could come down to Alaska. Can Republicans really refuse to certify or seat Mary Peltola if she wins? Probably not. But they sure can gum it up.
