I didn't have concrete plans to do a Broadway show while I was here but I ended up getting a ticket for Stranger Things: The First Shadow tonight.

Okay, there are definitely parts of New York City that don't smell great. But there are parts of Vancouver that don't smell great either. I don't think I've noticed it smelling unusually bad as big cities go.

The New York City subway is confusing and Google Maps does not do a very good job of explaining it (or maybe it's just as good a job as can be done). As a result I have accidentally ended up in Brooklyn instead of going back toward Penn Station. Sigh.

Fuji lent me a GF 250/4 and left me unsupervised on the streets of New York City. Expect a lot of detail shots of graffiti and buildings and fire escapes and pigeons in a few days.

My experience of New York City so far is that it is very large and very busy and not very well signed. However, people are always telling me it smells bad and so far everything has smelled fine.

New York is one of those places where you almost feel like you've been even when you haven't because it's so omnipresent in media.

I know electronic first-curtain shutter (EFCS) is the right choice for most shutter speeds but uuuugh it makes my shutter sound so anemic. 😩

Well, I started my day with a sick cat and a flat tire, but my catsitter is very experienced and will be over in a couple hours and my vet is just across the street, and the flat didn't stop me from getting to the airport on time. So, I'm off to New York. Hopefully have pics to post in a few days.

it's the absolute height of privilege to be able to consider politics orthogonal to real life. If you think politics doesn't affect you, a. you're wrong, and b. you should consider what the forces are that insulate you to the point where you can just "not care about politics".

I think it's safe to say that Gamergate has ruined how people have talked about media and it's even spread into how progressives engage with it in a similar reactionary manner

Finally got tired enough of manually crossposting everything between BlueSky and Mastodon that I'm giving Indigo a shot. So far, so good.

Pics from Speedy Goat autocross! I think the photographer liked my car judging by the number of pictures he took of it. 🥰
