Indianapolis, but not Indiana. Never a hoosier. Ever.

I like to partake in sim-racing and pickleball and other worthwhile endeavors that I'm honestly not very good at doing.

There are 1000 reasons to hate generative AI, but the one that goes undetected is the complete and total destruction of humanity's core epistemological understanding of the world. Everything else is downstream of that, and the consequences are only going to get more horrifying if this isn't stopped.

I've always marveled at how the satanic panic took place without social media's help. Traditional media was all aboard the stupid train.
Hot take: I don't think social media made people dumber. We've been dumb this whole time.

It's just that you used to have to have a job that people sent their dumb letters to, to notice.

This made "Engaging with fools" an occupational hazard rather than the 24/7 experience it is presently.
No matter how bleak things may seem, just remember that in the 1960s the US Coast Guard received reems of earnest letters begging them to save those poor castaways on Gilligan's Island.

A lot of liars really like to reference common sense.

Too many cars driving too much in your city because of #CarDependency is the opposite of common sense.

Polluting your air and fuelling #ClimateChange while limiting choices in how we can get around in cities is the opposite of common sense.
Paris has been praised in recent years for their visionary, progressive city-building, but they don’t get enough credit for just being really pragmatic!

Everything they’ve been doing is common sense.

They’re moving a lot more people with less space while cleaning the air and cooling the city.

“We need an Ozempic for cars. They are growing at a phenomenal rate, wreaking havoc on roads, squeezing out smaller vehicles and endangering pedestrians.

Like ever-hungry teenagers, cars in Europe are growing on average a centimetre wider every year.”

Don’t repeat North America’s mistake, Europe.
Britain’s cars and SUVs are growing bigger – but there is a way to stop this deadly ‘carspreading’ | Christian Wolmar
Larger vehicles crowd our roads and are far more dangerous to pedestrians. Let’s curb them before they do even more damage, says says transport commentator Christian Wolmar

Why did Eric Schmitt fuck up his gotcha moment so badly?

No one involved considered the possibility that Jack Smith attended a women’s basketball game.

A MAGAt undone by misogyny.

Not at all surprising.

Just helping with editing here.

These bots aren’t sentient. They’re doing what they’re programmed to do. OpenAI, a private company supposedly bound by laws, committed federal crimes.

Glad about the result, but I don’t think it speaks well of us as a country that after two years of human rights violations, war crimes, naked gangster corruption, and contempt for the Constitution, he’s finally unpopular because gas got expensive.
Remarkable: An Iowa right wing radio host just leaked word that GOP polling shows House Rs in peril even in districts Trump won by +10. The culript? Trump and the war.

On the pod, Iowa Dem chair Rita Hart explains why the conditions are ripe for big Dem rural gains:

This was predictable and predicted. An entire chapter in my book The Privateers discusses this.

It didn’t have to be this way. But when you design policy as a private school subsidy masked as student opportunity—and with no income caps—this is the exact result.

Participation shifted toward families making over $100,000 even as overall growth slows.

No one in national politics seems to even acknowledge that full system reformation is required, they can't see that the republic has already been lost, and as such they are the nails in its coffin. Ironically the only case for US restoration would be a sewer socialist campaign at fed level
Nobody is going to want to hear this, but a real risk we face, no matter who is president next, is that they will see no need to restore the rights lost or the executive power stolen in the last 10 years.
Hey its fucking wierd more of the dems platform isnt "we will give you abortion rights back"
