it's likely always been this way & I had a luck for a tiny amount of time, but work in large orgs seems to have had a larger push towards the tracking the artifacts of planning and metrics of work, vs. the outcomes. some is necessary. but, it's unsurprising that people are searching for meaning.

we had an entire ICU team that was dedicated to flipping patients onto their bellies to give them a last shot at oxygenating before their inevitable deaths, but ok
