It's easy to understand why transphobic attacks seem contradictory. EG: "Trans people are perverts who can't be trusted around women and children, also Trans people shouldn't be allowed the medicine that lowers their libido."

If a politician betrays some of the base, and a fraction of people stop supporting them as a result, shaming those upset about being betrayed won't undo the mistake that politician made. What we can potentially do is underline for other politicians why it was a mistake they don't want to repeat.

What are you doing today? Are you trying to lift people up, or holding on to hate and attacking minorities? What are you asking people not to forget? The harm hate caused? Our leaders said we were attacked in part because of the freedoms granted to people like the queer community here in the USA.

There is good evidence that his anti-trans positions directly impacted the election - 67% of voters said those positions made them less likely to vote for him.

Here's something most people probably don't know. There are almost no safeguards against getting an inadvisable tattoo beyond checking a form of ID, but no one really cares because if an adult does something permanent it's their body. If you think gender affirming care is similar... FLMAO
