I’ve continued to enjoy the second series of #Ludwig on BBC apart from one weird thing - the decision to blur the edges of every scene.
Why?
It’s so distracting. If they are trying to make the centre of the screen the focus, it has the opposite effect. Thought my TV might be going wrong!

It's a Python loop and a chatbot. The people responsible didn't accidentally create god: they created autonomous malicious software and then failed to closely monitor it, resulting in it doing something both foreseeable and bad.

Riley had a very good way of summarizing this: "LLMs are real, AI is fake." LLMs - chatbots trained on things like CTF logs that can break into servers - are real.

I despair at the quality of journalists who just accept and give a platform to these fools without challenging them to explain how exactly it is going to accomplish these miracles.
Anthropic's models run on terabytes of VRAM. It's not going to "just copy itself to other computers."

Honestly, apart from the exorbitant cost I find a lot to like in the iPhone Duo (the new foldable iphone).
It actually seems to me like it’s sweet spot isn’t as an iphone at all, but as a foldable iPad mini with the good old multitasking, and pencil support.

Last night I saw a trailer for Uprising, a new film about the peasant’s revolt of 1381. Something that I’d vaguely known about, but was hazy on the details. An interesting time period to set a film (and I can see some contemporary parallels…)

Just came back from watching Pressure. An excellent film! It’s one of those where you know the ending but the way they get there is really interesting. Great performances all round.

There are many things I dislike about the stupid liquid glass UI introduced in iOS26, but the worst is the floating toolbar at the bottom which obscures text boxes in lots of apps (Discord here)
While some could argue the developers should ‘fix their app’ it’s just a huge unforced error by Apple
