I'm so sick of being told that Canada is only responsible for 1.6% of global emissions.
We are seeing far more than 1.6% of global warming, forest fires and drought.
Why are we limiting ourselves not being part of the problem? That is not a solution.

We did it.
We finally satisfied demand with enough homes.
Were price is lowered?
No, instead developers were given a break on empty homes taxes so they could leave units empty until prices went back up.
They control supply to create scarcity.

This thing about greed is you can never satisfy it but you sure as hell can get sick of it.
Let's build homes for the end user, not the flipper.

If I could buy the perfect home I'd move into it with my family for the rest of my life and pass it on to my kids.
If an investor could buy the perfect home, they'd flip it the next day and want another.
Remember that the next time you hear a politician talk about satisfying housing demand.

@ptfry.bsky.social congratulations on your victory keeping natural gas out of new buildings in Vancouver.
I'm curious though if anyone else realizes that most new builds are being built with natural gas barbecue outlets on the balconies.
Is that still going to happen?

If Canadian emission targets were like Canadian foreign policy, instead of stopping tyrants we'd commit to not arming them by some future date.
Oh wait.
That is our foreign policy.
FFS we deserve #CanadianSolutions not excuses.

The scale of response needed for #ClimateAction is like If aliens invaded, conquered the planet, took control of the most powerful corporations in the world and forced us into a financial system that furthered their own ends.

I've been a tradesman since I got out of high school, but more recently I've become politically involved after being fed up with politicians constantly saying I can't afford housing because I'm not building it fast enough.

Not all housing demand is created equal.
Meet my demand for a home and I'll live in it for my whole life and pass it on to my kids.
But if you meet a speculator's demand for a house they'll flip it the next day and want another one.
Let's build for families, not investors.

Building more housing won't lower prices for the same reason ticket scalpers don't lower their price when you build more stadiums.
Greed base demand is insatiable.
